Different levels of consciousness bring different perspectives. I will give a few examples from my past.
I was mentally unstable at a time when I was afraid every day of staying on the streets and not eating. I couldn't perceive anything but fear and lack at that level of consciousness.
The moment I started meditating, I just closed my eyes and stopped observing thoughts and emotions. My level of consciousness shifted to a neutral state. From there, I could get where I wanted to go.
We are all at different levels of consciousness, and at those levels of consciousness there are different perspectives on everything.

I don't agree with everything in this book, BUT it is a great start to understanding that each of us is only different at that level of consciousness and that "highest level" is nothing but unconditional love for all.
