The other thing too:
Even when life IS polarizing, literally as extreme as what you described; life is like that but we're not.
We have both yin and yang ☯️ so there will be engagements where we're one, others when we're the other, and even those when we're both!!
My neurologist used to say the concept of life being shades of gray failed when they'd be instances of one extreme being only that one extreme. That if anything, the grays existed only by the varying intensities of either extremes.
I wish I remembered his words correctly. He was one of the very few doctors that still really cared for making a difference in his patients.
