I have just learnt that If you use Session on an iOS phone, Apple might store information about how you use the app using the telemetry features which are built into its operating system.
They can record when the app is closed, opened, how long you use it for, crash logs, and your device model. This doesn’t sound too bad.
However, this usage information could also be linked with your Apple ID 🤯
Apparently, this is a limitation of mobile operating systems, and applies to all apps used on the device, no just to Session.
I am aware that to obtain privacy and security, most often than not you have to compromise on convenience.
I am currently evaluating my threat model and lifestyle to establish whether this is right for me at this time.
