Regarding TRUMP coin:
One thing I've learned after 15 years in Bitcoin and the greater 'crypto' space is that the prevailing opinion is nearly always wrong. You, dear reader know this because you are in bitcoin. If you would have listened to the prevailing opinion you'd still be having fun staying poor.
Here's my summary. Instead of assuming the worst that everybody else is jumping to. I think it's more likely that TRUMP coin:
- Will give a dividend/airdrops to holders to gain the goodwill and support those that are supporting him INSTEAD of rugging and dumping the unlocks on his supporters that will only bring hell back onto Trump.
- Will be used as a new and innovative way to measure the success of the Trump presidency
- Capture the attention of the world
- Just plain be fun. It has been memed about for many years now about investing in _____ coin of a person or idea that you support. This is the first time it has really been attached to a person of note.
More detail...
The prevailing opinion is still that bitcoin is a scam ponzi scheme despite the obvious fact that we've already won. And even if you've broken out of the prevailing opinion on this important topic does not mean that you automatically will do the same everywhere else in your life, although you'll be much better than average.
So rather than jumping to the obvious bandwagon take that every person you've seen today, including people who hate you and bitcoin, let's try to think just a little bit differently.
It seems a little far-fetched that Trump is launching this meme shitcoin with the intention of rugging his fans. Yes, it's possible, but is it the most likely outcome?
Think about it. We're in a whole new world, and this is an extremely innovative play. Trump has basically created a real-time personal performance measurement device. Imagine the innovative metrics that can be gathered.
I think it's more likely that instead of dumping the unlocked coins on the masses and tanking the value (which will do nothing but gain Trump the ill will of everyone, and I mean everyone) he'd rather airdrop the unlocked tokens directly into the wallets of the holders for free. Imagine if Trump basically pays you 5% of your TRUMP stack every month just for being a supporter and holding his token.
Wouldn't that be infinitely more valuable than rugging your supporters for what, more money? He's already got all the money he needs. He's old, why would he destroy his legacy for more money? It just doesn't make sense.
Of course the first rebuttle is that Trumps a psychopath, or scammer and always has been. He doesn't care for anyone but himself and getting more rich.
Yeah okay maybe, but that's really first order thinking. Aren't we better than that? Isn't Trump better than that? Even if he is those things, has he not reached the stage where legacy and reputation matters more than money?
The next obvious rebuttle is that Trump just doesn't get bitcoin and let's people around him influence him into bad decision making. I think this could be the case. I have been baffled all year at how out of touch Trump is when he talks to bitcoiners. Eg he says 'crypto' instead of 'bitcoin' when he obviously should be reading the room and understand bitcoin maxi's don't want to hear the word crypto. It's nuts to me that he doesn't have an aid next to him that says 'if you say the word crypto anytime today we consider this day a failure. You HAVE to only use the word bitcoin'.
Anyway despite the fact that this point bothers me so much, I am willing to chalk it up to just boomerisms. Am I really going to snowflake out and get offended that this guy doesn't get the intricacies of bitcoin vs crypto. I don't think so. We're going in the right direction here. I'll take the W when I can.
Last point I'll make is that I just think it's fun. The free marketing and the buzz he's getting off this is just insane. You can't buy this level of coverage. He's obviously perfected the art of getting a ton of publicity and buzz for doing or saying controversial things. I think it's fun to watch people freak out while he sucks up all the attention. It's just plain interesting.
