Not every shadow or whisper implicates schizophrenia.
It's particularly hard to get therapists to grasp this if they haven't worked in acute Psychosis wards decidated to disorganized, flat, ambivalent, hallucinating folk.
It may be a "hallucination." It could be a parahallucinatory result of compromised biology, or hallucinosis. It could be pseudohallucinations -- stress-provoked & vague. It could be illusions - failures in the perceptual systems.
