I was thinking about the nervous energy I feel on iOS Day. At first I thought of sports analogies: toeing the line of a race, taking the field…but they felt too competitive, antagonistic & zero sum.

I think a better analogy is a group of performers anxiously waiting to go on stage. We've been rehearsing for months, now it is time to show our skill. Some of us will get an ovation, some a polite clap...but we were all brave enough to take the stage & that's worthy of acclaim.
