The last fantasy I read was, I think, the Game of Thrones series and the Scholomance books were like the polar opposite in every way. Really did not expect anything that optimistic and uplifting when I started A Dangerous Education. And The Golden Enclave really unexpectedly touched on some stuff I grapple with as a parent.
