I noticed something during my submission this morning that seemed a bit off at the time, and now I realise why.
I always thought it was unremarkable for people to use te reo in their greeting at official events. I began my remarks with "Kia ora koutou. Ko Phil Stevens toku ingoa." To me, this is the bare minimum in a multicultural society.
What I got later from Mark Cameron was a question with a convoluted intro highlighting my "use of the Maarie language" before getting to the point. WTAF
