I find it hard to care about older European art because it's a reminder of how much of the rest of the world has been forced out of the discourse of history.

And the way it's described tends to be from a place of exaltation. I want to see Aztecan art. Taino art. Viet art. It's easier to find things like this in the equivalent of the "international foods" section of universities. But by not stumbling upon it online; it's not "high art".
