someone dropped one of those chain-mail pot scrubbers down the garbage disposal, which disassembled it with a quickness. my first try at retrieving the bits (strong magnet) failed (now I have learned about austenitic steel); second try involved putting my hand in the disposal — unplugged, but one can understandably imagine it getting somehow plugged back in
