If you're going to "pause hiring" then tell the people who are expecting to hear back from you that you are doing so.

Deciding to just ghost them until they start sending multiply targeted communications to figure out wtf is going on is deeply unprofessional and raises some very fucking pertinent questions about how your communications with them would be as an employee,

and also it's a dick move.
