I know everyone knows, but like it really is so fucking batshit evil/absurd the poverty traps that welfare sets up, with no graduated offramp, even when they ostensibly make some noise about gradual slopes.

In so many cases the fucking second you make a dollar more you're suddenly dropped from free health insurance and are obliged to pay 12k a year to keep it. Everyone's just like "guess we can never make above starvation wages for the rest of our life."
