Good costuming starts with layering. If you want to go pantsless like the Prophets, that's up to you. But a knee length tunic, or even a monk's habit is a must as a base layer. And cinching it with a belt to avoid looking like Scrooge on Christmas morning is recommended. You can wear a surcoat or a monk's scapular to add volume. But that's not strictly necessary, imo. Having an outer robe would give you all the presence you need.
The german company Burgschneider has good clothes and robes. My favorite cloak is made by them.
