Ghost of Tsushima 2 (Ghost of Yotei, aka GoY) stars a woman protagonist. Coupled with the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Japan game this makes two “big” releases set in a ‘historical’ setting without a traditional Japanese male hero. I think that’s significant and disturbing. Ghost of Tsushima was even lauded by Japan for featuring a very good older male character, and I agree.
Anyone who thinks/thought Ghost of Tsushima 2 was going be un-molested probably didn’t play the Ghost of Tsushima DLC. The base game of Tsushima was near flawless and 95% POZZ-free, but the DLC was polluted by Western neoliberal messaging and values because it was developed in response to nuGod of War Ragnarok’s ‘success’. Ragnarok was an emasculating melodrama, and so was Ghost of Tsushima’s DLC, which I would say has a 60% POZZ -free rating, maybe less depending on how egregious you consider the messaging that is very NOT Japanese in value.
Thoughts on Goy, I mean, Ghost of Yotei?
