Hah, yes!

One of the things that's really nice about improving one's mental health is that you can get to a state where you don't have to lie to your friends, and that eases some emotional burdens even further.

For example, last weekend a friend messaged me about a board games evening and just said "hey I don't feel up to coming" and that was all they needed to say. I didn't feel insulted or anything because I know them and I know they don't have to lie to me. When they do feel up to coming they're always a pleasure to have around.

When people can do this, it means there's less constant guessing about "do they secretly hate me", which is always just easier, you know?

This isn't something you can just skip to immediately, but it is something that I think decent friends will be willing to make space for - I certainly feel I'm a better friend to my introverts for doing so.
