Russia today launched an RS-24 Yars intercontinental ballistic missile from the Plesetsk Cosmodrome and an R-29RMU Sineva ballistic missile from the Barents Sea.
The Yars has a range of 12,000 km and can carry up to three warheads, while the Sineva has a range of 8,000 km and can carry up to ten warheads.
This was Russia's first nuclear exercise after Putin eased restrictions on the use of such weapons, lowering the threshold at which Russia would consider itself legally justified to launch a nuclear attack on an enemy country.
