it's hard to get a cheap android phone, becuase most cheap android phones don't receive updates after already shipping with an old and outdated OS.
i would say that the moto g family isn't *bad* and is a decent low end product line.
in terms of popularity, i would assume something cheap from huawei or xiaomi would be more prevalant.
that said, i just wouldn't personally ever own anything less than google's cheaper alternative from the 'a' line. pixel 9a for example.
