The acid rain was real, I lived through it. Not as widespread as the MSM made out, but I'm glad it was dealt with. Lakes and streams became like the Dead Sea (they quickly recovered once we stopped dumping sulfur and nitrates into the air near said lakes and streams).
The ozone layer problem had essentially one cause: industrial spray and evaporate cleaning applications of Freon. Instead of just banning those (or requiring gas recovery) - they banned all Freon.
