Finally got to the bottom of an issue where a colleague has for weeks talked at crossed purposes with everyone else involved in a project as to where a tool was being deployed. The 3rd party we're working with had this line in their docs: "Our stateless solution is a streamlined version of the full-fledged solution deployed in the cloud."
