i'm often told to use forums to ask for help, but i've seen enough threads in my Google searches to know what that experience is like.
people have this tendency to deny issues that they haven't personally experienced.
it not only applies to software. if you're in a minority group and get discriminated against, you're often blamed for the problem, or told that you're imagining it.
the rest of the world essentially gaslights you about a very real problem, and you only start feeling sane again when you talk to other people who have faced the same issue.
if you then walk out as a group to raise awareness about it, the whole group gets labelled as crazy or extreme.
this is social psychology in action. it's instinctual behaviour, exhibited by most humans on the planet, and the vast majority of people never even thought of it as a problem.
