It’s not so simple. Take my country Bulgaria for example. It’s one of the oldest countries in Europe and the only one that has not changed its name since the founding more than 1300 years ago. The name Bulgarians literally means “of mixed origin”. The first Bulgarian state was found by the unity of proto-Bulgarian nomads, the 7 Slavic tribes in the Balkans and untold number of ethnically diverse people that occupied the Balkan Peninsula in VII century. The Bulgarian Empire was twice fully conquered by very different ethnic groups - the Byzantines for 200 years and later the Ottomans for 500 years. Our language, culture and the orthodox Christian religion and traditions survived to this day despite being suppressed and purposely destroyed for centuries. Today over 12% of the population has Turkish origins. These people have Turkish names, preserve their Turkish traditions and have different faith, but still live in peace with Bulgarians and call themselves Bulgarians despite our violent and painful past. I don’t like the forced colonisation of Germany and Western Europe by illegal aliens and criminals ever since 2015. I think these people should be deported back to their countries, but people that have been there for generations should not be attacked. Otherwise eventually you’ll have the same situation that followed the events in Ukraine in 2014 and resulted in today’s bloody war and separation of the one’s sovereign state.
