Have you ever made an impractical purchase? This was one of mine. I ran across it online a few years ago, and it reminded me so much of the camera my dad had when I was growing up, I purchased it out of nostalgia more than anything else. The seller was cleaning out his father's things, and told me that his father prized this camera, and it was the only one he had for his whole life. He either used it very little, or cared for it very well. This model was released in 1977 and is surprisingly compact for an SLR, and very dense, heavy for its size. It's loud and sharp-edged, but carries with it a real feeling of craftsmanship in the way it is built. Using it is a refreshing change of pace from a modern camera. It's just too bad film photography is so expensive these days.
