Part of me thinks that this whole vain social media addictions stem from a generation’s insatiable need for praise. I can’t imagine we were always this way. I can imagine cave men needed to be trusted and somehow liked to be included in a group which then helps them survive and their genes get passed on. But somehow that deep need took a hold and now it’s a brain virus. impacting some more than the others.
I like that there’ll be options on nostr that don’t cater to that. There should be clients that show interesting content from a niche without any likes. Client just calculates the time people in a certain circle read the article and publish it as anonymous analytics signal. We can tie all of this to reputation and now you have an app where you just go to read. In peace.
