Is it worth explaining? The web is based on HTTP, it's a succesfull and ubiquitous protocol, meaning that it "just works" everywhere and on everything, which hyperlinks gluing it all together. Nostr, is an extension of http, so another web protocol, meaning it inherits the large network effect of HTTP. That is the reason it works. If it was a new protocol, rather than a sub protocol, it would likely never have taken off.
