Donations are not always allowed to he anonymous and they aren't really ever anonymous since there's still a limit to respect in those cases. Also the funding could come from abroad.
I believe the token give access to a new way to essentially donate money. But I say essentially because it's obviously not exactly the same thing as donating money directly. I just think it's possible to fund trump that way. Like buying RTH is essentially funding the ethereum foundation.
