I'm not a legal expert. But, I'm very aware of the way that institutions can offer different treatment to different class of people-- all while justifying the difference as "the natural result of better lawyers on their side" or "they are better able to advocate for themselves."
But at the same time they are rolling out the red carpet and slowing down the process in anticipation of Karen-like behavior.
