As a black American, don't get overly optimistic about the wisdom of the American electorate. Do I need any further evidence of my pessimism than a felonious, traitorous, racist, rapist, pedophile is actually in the race to be President of the United States? Just saying that out loud sounds absurd. So, no, I'm NOT enthusiatic about the wisdom of the Amerian electorate. All sane people should be worried.
