Since I work with laptops or desktops that absolutely hate Ventoy's EFI/grub shenanigans and Secure Boot (which I still use even when running Linux where I can), IODD is a much better option for me.
Not only does the ST400 take a 2.5-inch SATA SSD, but I can treat it like a ISO/USB boot device or a regular removable drive for backing up stuff on the fly.
Otherwise, I have a couple of 16 or 32 GB Samsung or SanDisk USB thumb drives that are known good for booting OS installers on PC, Macs and SBCs.
