When centre-left governments get power - they invariably play it timid; failing to implement truly transformative change in the fear they'll alienate the "centre".
What they end up doing is incrementalism - and after typically 2 terms, the electorate rewards this incremental timidity with voting them out in favour of rightwing gvts who invariably stuff the economy. And so the cycle repeats. #nzpol #auspol
