It's slightly off. The iron gives away its electrons to form Fe2+, it doesn't take electrons. I don't even think you can do an acidic redox reaction where Fe will ever take up electrons since then you'll get ferrous citrate or ferrous acetate, so Fe needs to become positive and the electron receptor will be H, turning 2 H+ => H2 🤓
