It's interesting to see that people are so bothered about Threads potentially federating with ActivityPub instances.
Does Meta suck? Yes.
Does Threads suck? Also yes.
But with how these platforms work, Meta federating with them does not grant Meta any extra control or data or even reach really.
Control is still in hands of the user/instance, and no extra information is passed along AP requests than can just be read publicly on the Fediverse.
