- agree that self hosting case is peculiar and is not affected by these kind of attacks; but nostr advantage is to move the activities to the client, smoothing the line defining what "self-hosting" is.
A user owning the key in his client, using multiple relays with different policies and running a localrelay alongside the client is pretty easily very sovreign, without needing servers and configure networking stuffs.
Pretty no one, instead, wants to "self host his own homeserver" the old fashioned way.

- Nostr design, in my opionion, assumes that a relay will censor what it wants, thats why some good practices include using multiple relays with different policies for redundancy; and when one relay fails you, you, your network and your operations are pretty uneffected.

- I appreciate the way pubky try to resolve discovery. But also I maybe would achieve similar effects using multiple redundant relays, with different policies; nostr dont assume a "complete state" of the network, I maybe want to share different relay to different people to show different contents.

- why building a pubkey app that signs everithing when all pubky itself could be done as a particular nostr nip, so to improve what already is enstablishing as a truly decentralized protocol?

- Servers impersonating people is a problem, I wouldnt dismiss it.
Its part of these kind of problem that dont exists unless, at some point, they are exploited and start to affect people.
