In three months' time my daughter will be the age I was when I left home(s) with no choice, to a whole new country, by myself. I had been drinking alcohol & smoking heavily (encouraged by my mother) for 2 years by now. It really brings it home to me having kids, just how fucked up my childhood was. No 16 year old is ready for that, and seeing their needs up close really brings that into clear focus.
