Today, while procrastinating, I tried out various options on the Surface tablet because I wasn't really happy with the way VanillaOS handled the high DPI display of the surface and it showed also some nasty stability issues... well, after trying out the usual suspects I finally settled with KDE neon.
Why?
KDE neon is in its core a mature Ubuntu LTS version which is tweaked by the creators of KDE to work perfectly with their desktop... and after spending now about 8 hours on real work in Zed and various other tools in it I can say with confidence: It totally lives up to its promise.
It looks really nice, attaching and detaching from the dock works flawlessly, the scaling just fits... and it runs absolutely smooth even on the (by today's standards) humble configuration of the Surface.
