when I was a college professor, I used to do an experiment. I had speed drills on how quickly students could differentiate between factually accurate information on the Internet and inaccurate information on the Internet. Sometimes I allowed the students to pair themselves up. Sometimes I assigned them a partner. In seven years of doing this in class, every time the students were diverse in ages or races, they answered the question more quickly than students paired with somebody of an equal age and the same race. At the end of the semester, I would show them the statistics on the pairings that had the best answer most quickly. Wish I’d saved that data.
