European Commission has just opened a formal proceeding against #TikTok in response to the mass-scale manipulation of presidential elections in #Romania performed using this platform.

The basis for the investigation is the Digital Services Act directive… and FYI it’s the same directive that was a few years ago fiercely contested by an rather exotic alliance of “privacy protecting organisations” with GAFAM companies who claimed DSA is going to “ban private blogs” and other bullshit.
Pretty much in the same way as 2009 directive on marking medical supplements was going to “ban planting herbs in private gardens”, TERREG directive was going to ban everything at all and eIDAS was going to introduce mass-scale surveillance through QWAS certificates etc etc.
So no, don’t buy any scary bullshit about EU regulations even if it comes from “respectable privacy protecting” NGOs who happen to be friends with GAFAM (even it sounds like an oxymoron).
