One last thought in this messy ramble. I don't want to be seen as "excusing" people that voted for Trump here. But we can see from results like Missouri's that some of the people that voted for Trump also support minimum wage increases and abortion rights.
I don't know those people. They could be disagreeable in every other way. But on these issues, they're right. And I would much prefer a system where we can more often bypass politicians to get things done when we all agree on the right thing.
