Y'know, I had a disturbing thought: what if he's telling the truth (as far as he knows it)? I know they're lying, but just take that excuse to its logical conclusion of the Alito and Thomas wives as Esther's evil twin sisters. And not just them, but that broader movement.
It's not as dumb as it seems at first glance: these men are not intellectual giants. It's not an implausible conspiracy theory...but yeah, the most obvious explanation is that they are just lying.
