I agree with that in terms of absolute defeat and I’ve made the same argument to others in my life. Vietnam is another good example of this. But scuttling around in caves and tunnels and having most of who you know killed or taken prisoner, everything you know blown to shit, and fighting a protracted guerrilla war for decades isn’t a win. Everyone loses.
