look i'm not a conspiracy theorist, but the Republicans made pretty significant and public efforts to depress voter turnout by purging voter rolls, disqualifying ballots for dumb reasons, requiring ID, under-provisioning urban areas, etc. and it seems pretty reasonable to conclude that it worked. i'm not going to say it was decisive, but if it does turn out that there were fewer Dem voters this time around, that's gonna be part of it.
