You might argue leave immediately, paid vacation in lieu, severances, you might negotiate move to another division, or a temporary contract until the end of a handover - especially if they don't quite know what is going to break (it does no harm to mention that statistically a lot of places end up rehiring old staff as contract for double what they were on originally). Depends, there are always options.
