Jazztidon artist of the week: The Simple Acoustic Trio! This group has been one of Europe’s most popular piano trios. The trio, which was formed when they were teenagers in 1993, has remained a cohesive unit. They had a great time recording and performing with Tomas Stanko (the legendary Polish trumpeter), and have recently released two CDs on the ECM label. The Simple Acoustic Trio’s music is very European in that it doesn’t adhere to traditional swinging jazz rhythms or other forms. Although their music can sometimes be introspective, melodic, and melodic, it can also be funky, adventurous, and explosive. It is all about spontaneous, collective improvisations. The results can be unpredictable, beautiful, and even exciting. This is a great choice for those who enjoy adventurous, modern piano trio music.
