I woke up at 5 a.m. Christmas morning to the sound of gunfire outside my bedroom window. The dogs erupted into panicked barks and I jumped to the floor between my bed and wall opposite the window. Took 911 nearly 5 minutes to answer my call.

By the time I looked out the window I could see something on fire at the intersection of my street. Something small and low to the ground.

Maybe it was all just fireworks after all (I really can't be sure), but damn, what a rude awakening.
