This is why there are almost no comedy franchises. Scary Movie is a major exception because like a Tonight Show monologue satire feeds on the latest thing and there are always new dumb movies to mock.
Most attempts die a miserable death like Caddyshack 2 or were never funny to begin with like Police Academy.
Ghostbusters Frozen Empire was a pretty good action horror film but the average Marvel movie has more laughs.
Very similar problem to Afterlife, but Afterlife was a better movie.
With digital effects weird ghosts are easy.
Comedy is still hard.
