I do think humans could get to Mars relatively soon, if we put our minds to it. Like in the next fifty years maybe. But not a "colony" as Musk wants. Something more like the bases at the South Pole. A scientific outpost that astronauts will likely stay at for several years at a time. But it won't be anyone's home. Nobody will be having babies there. Not for a long time yet.
