I don’t think that this is an empty threat. #Trump makes a lot of noise. This only works if people believe that he might actually act. Sending the US military against groups that are already classified as terrorists in a region were #Israel is more than willing to do the long occupation part would be a cheap option to put weight to his words. Those Americans who would oppose already dislike him. Arab nations seem to be tame these days. Switching of oil isn’t as big of a deal when he wants to make the US more self sustaining, anyway. Attracting terror attacks to the US is probably the biggest downside, but not worse than during the „war on terror“.
