There was always a tension here between certain elements, which I thought gave this place a charm and personality and meaning that was absent from anywhere else.
I came here at the start of COVID hysteria, which was the most grotesque tyranny of my lifetime. I won't forget the solace it offered me, that helped my mind from wandering into deep, dark places.
