Before enlightenment: chop wood, carry water. After enlightenment: chop wood, carry water.
It doesn't really matter how enlightened a human becomes. Whether you believe in evolution or intelligent design, humans are obviously intended for reproduction. It's how we all got here after all.
I don't think that it is a moral imperative, but it is certainly a biological one.
