I am so confused why Mastodon needs ElasticSearch for ‘full text search’ if it only searched hashtags in the past

I’m also incredibly confused why this will be hidden deep in a user’s settings and *requires them to enable it*. And why they’re federating this setting before they fix likes not federating properly.
