Much of the “growth” in the economy is just the outsourcing of things that we used to do ourselves.
We used to educate our own children; now we hand them over the schools for 7 hours/day.
We used to cook all of our own meals; now, most people eat out all the time.
We used to build our own houses; now we pay someone else do it for us.
This is not real growth - it’s just the transfer of tasks from the people who care a lot about the results to the people who care much less. Nobody cares about the quality of your food, your home and your children’s education more than you do.
